Evolving Finite-State Machine Strategies for Protecting Resources

چکیده
We are becoming increasingly dependent on large interconnected networks for the control of our resources. One important issue is resource protection strategies in the event of failures and/or attacks. To address this issue we investigated the eeectiveness of evolving nite-state machine (FSM) strategies for winning against an adversary in a challenging Competition for Resources simulation. Although preliminary results were promising, unproductive cyclic behavior lowered performance. We then augmented evolution with an algorithm that rapidly detects and removes this cyclic behavior, thereby improving performance dramatically.

Restricted cascade and wreath products of fuzzy finite switchboard state machines
A finite switchboard state machine is a specialized finite state machine. It is built by binding the concepts of switching state machines and commutative state machines. The main purpose of this paper is to give a specific algorithm for fuzzy finite switchboard state machine and also, investigates the concepts of switching relation, covering, restricted cascade products and wreath products of f...
متن کاملHop Based Queueing (HBQ): An Active Queue Management Technique for Multi Hop Wireless Networks
In this paper a novel active queue management technique for ad hoc networks is proposed, where the dropping probability depends on the number of wireless hops traversed by the enqueued packets in the node. The advantages accruing of protecting flows with routes that span over a large number of wireless hops by the proposed Hop Based Queueing (HBQ) algorithm are mainly twofold. Firstly, it decre...
متن کاملPROTECTING MOVING TARGETS WITH MULTIPLE MOBILE RESOURCES Protecting Moving Targets with Multiple Mobile Resources
In recent years, Stackelberg Security Games have been successfully applied to solve resource allocation and scheduling problems in several security domains. However, previous work has mostly assumed that the targets are stationary relative to the defender and the attacker, leading to discrete game models with finite numbers of pure strategies. This paper in contrast focuses on protecting mobile...
متن کاملEvolution of Strategies for
The objective of this project is to develop eeective nite-state machine (FSM) strategies for winning against an adversary in a Competition for Resources simulation. To achieve this goal, we evolve these strategies in a simulated environment and compare a variety of evolutionary methods in this context. Key empirical questions are addressed, such as how many FSM states are optimal, how eeective ...
